Village of Mead planning commission meeting of September 26th, 2016

The Village of Mead planning commission met Monday, September 26th at 7:37 p.m.  Present were Rick Miller, Connie Schliffke, Jody Weible, Levi Durnal and Melissa Konecky.  Wyatt Swartz, Matt Bratsburg and Jim Halbmeier were absent.  Curtis Pearson and Vera Kuhr were guests.

We adopted the agenda.

Connie motioned, and Rick seconded, that we approve the minutes from the previous meeting as they stand.  All agreed.

Building permit 16-15 of Allison Leimer’s to erect a chain-link fence is amended to being on the north side of her property and will not be connecting to the neighbor’s wooden privacy fence as indicated on the original application.

Lauren and Vera Kuhr submitted a building permit application to erect a 6’ privacy fence on their property.  The fence is allowed to go to the property line, not to the street.  Levi motioned, and Rick seconded, that we approve the building permit application.  All agreed. 
  
Curtis Pearson submitted a building permit application to construct a garage addition and a chain-link fence on his property.  Rick motioned, and Connie seconded, that we approve the permit application.  All agreed.

Brad Howell submitted a building permit application to construct a garage bay on his property.  Rick motioned, and Levi seconded, that we approve the permit application on the condition that the total garage footprint is not larger than the house footprint.  All agreed.

Jeff and Jennifer Getzschman and Bryce Andserson had three permits listed on the agenda but none were submitted.

Here are proposed changes (in bold) for the following zoning ordinances:
11:404 is to read: The required rear yard may be reduced to twenty (20%) percent of the depth of the lot.  An accessory building may be built within a required rear yard when located at least four (4) feet from rear lot line and when occupying not more than thirty (30%) percent of the area of such required rear yard.
11:307, D., 1. Is to read: Minimum lot size shall be eight thousand (8,000) sq. feet with a minimum width of sixty (60) feet for single family dwellings.  Two family and multiple family dwelling lot size shall be ten thousand (10,000) square feet have a minimum width of seventy-five (75) feet.
11:307, D., 2. (lines 1 and 2) to read: Attached dwelling or multiple family: There shall be a minimum lot area of five thousand (5,000) square feet per dwelling unit and not less than ten thousand (10,000) square feet minimum lot area.
11-306, D., 3. (lines 1 and 2) to read: Attached dwelling shall be a minimum lot area of five thousand (5,000) square feet per dwelling unit.
11-306, D., 5. (line 1)to read: Two-family: five thousand (5,000) square feet per dwelling unit.

We discussed the safety of propane tank.
