Planning Commission Regular Meeting 24-SEP-18

Village of Mead Planning Commission meeting of September 24th, 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Present were Jody Weible, Levi Durnal, Connie Schliffke, Wyatt Swartz, Rick Miller and Melissa Konecky were present. Matt Bratsburg and Jim Halbmaier were absent. We approved the agenda. Connie motioned, and Levi seconded, that we approve the minutes of the August 2018 meeting. All agreed.
Gary and Judy Rasmuss submitted a building permit application to remove their deck and construct a new one. Since the new deck meets setbacks Rick motioned, and Connie seconded, that we approve the permit. All agreed.
The Village of Mead submitted a demolition permit application to remove the depot building at 110 E. 1st. Rick motioned, and Wyatt seconded, that we approve the permit. All agreed.
Mead Public Schools at 114 N. Vine submitted a building permit application for a four-stall parking garage. Levi motioned, and Rick seconded, that we approve the permit. All agreed.
We discussed that we may have to require a blueprint with building permit applications as a recent incident indicated. We had not gotten the sidewall information on a recent permit we approved. The size was OK anyway.
It was mentioned that decks greater than 30” above grade must have a guard rail.
There are problems with driveway cut-outs that crumble and fall apart. If cutting out a roadway curb, replacement needs to be7” thick and 4,000 psi rated concrete mix, not less expensive types of concrete mix.
