VILLAGE OFFICE CLOSED SEPTEMBER 4th LABOR DAY

 

TRUSTEES HOLD MONTHLY MEETING AUGUST 8th

The Village of Mead Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on August 8 at 6:00 pm at the Village Office. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Lee, Simon, and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Felty. Also present were Clerk Moline, Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent Luetkenhaus, and Police Chief Sackett. Guests were Lisa Flesner, Dustin Marvel, Cara Simon, Jennifer Lee, Mary Mayfield, Kylee Hickman, Laurie VanAckeren, Roberta Kisling, J.P. Hannan, Andrew Jackson, and Sara Else.

 

A BUDGET WORKSHOP was called at 6:03 pm. Lisa Flesner presented the 10/1/23-9/30/24 proposed budget. The workshop adjourned at 6:24 pm.

 

SCHEDULED GUESTS: Dustin Marvel, OPPD, presented programs offered by OPPD. James P. Hannan questioned moving the fireworks stand from the park.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Review of the One- and Six-Year Street plan was held. Discussion was held on formation of a Park Committee, and PTO overtime for emergencies. A letter was read from the Mead Days Committee regarding the Holiday Lighting Event to be held December 2. The bid of $3,650 from A.B. Sprinkler & Repair to install a sprinkler system at the outfield of the park ballfield was approved.

 

REPORTS: Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent – Luetkenhhaus reported mowing, weed eating, daily duties, and removal of a broken tree branch at the park. The tree needs to be removed in the near future as do several other trees in the park. Library – The minutes of the August 1 Board Meeting were accepted. Building / Zoning Administrator – Building Permit 23-10, AltEn, to erect a 6’ galvanized chain-link fence to encompass the property was accepted. Planning Commission – The minutes of the June 26 Regular Meeting and July 10 Special Meeting were accepted. Police – Sackett reported on-duty activities, tickets, and recent employment accepted at his church/school.

 

Discussion was held on activities at AltEn and safety concerns at the Frontier Coop construction site.

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:33 pm.

 

TRUSTEES HOLD SPECIAL MEETING

 

A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees was held August 9 at 5:35 pm at the Mead Community Building. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Lee and Wielage. Absent were Trustees Felty and Simon. Also present was Clerk Moline. Guests were Mason Herrman and Planning Commission member Andrew Jackson.

Simon entered the meeting at 6:00 pm.

Mason led discussion on the Future Land Use Map and Executive Summary of changes of zoning regulations.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:12 pm.

The village will be notified via email of your payment. Please remember that water and sewer bills are to be paid on the 15th of every month. Payments received after 9:00 am the following day will be considered late and a $10.00 late fee will be added to the account so please plan accordingly to avoid the late charge.

NEED MEMBERS FOR PARK COMMITTEE ~

 

The Village of Mead is creating a Park Informational Committee. The committee will consist of six members plus one member of the Board of Trustees and the Village Maintenance Superintendent. This committee is not limited to Mead residents only.

 

The purpose of the committee will be to provide information and suggestions to the Board of Trustees for improvements, purchasing of equipment, and fundraising. All suggestions will be approved by the Board of Trustees.

 

If you are interested in joining this committee, please submit your name to the Village Clerk at 402-624-2495 or meadclerk1@hotmail.com or any member of the Board of Trustees.

 

REMINDER – All payments made by check or ACH that are returned due to insufficient funds will be charged a $20.00 fee.

Events for September:

Tuesday, September 5 – The Mead Public Library Board will have its monthly meeting at 6p. The session is open to the public.

Wednesday, September 6, 20, and 27 – Participate in an Adult DIY Craft Night from 6-8p. Bring your own craft to work on and enjoy the conversation and fun.

Monday, September 11 – The Library is hosting a Puzzle Power Competition at 6:30p. Be the first to complete a jigsaw puzzle and win a prize. All ages welcome.

Wednesday, September 13 – Join the group that meets for the Library’s Adult Book Club from 630-8p.

Monday, September 18 – Come make a necklace and bracelet at the Adult Jewelry Workshop at 6:30p. This event is for adults only and requires an RSVP to the Library by Monday, September 11.

Wednesday, September 27 – Stop by the Library anytime and have fun doing a Scavenger Hunt. Ages 0-14 welcome.

Thursday, September 28 – We are showing a new release at PG Movie Time. The film starts at 10a. Bring your own covered drink and we will provide the popcorn. If you would like more information about the movie title, please call or stop by the Library.
