Board of Trustees Meeting held August 9th ~
A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held August 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the Mead Community Building. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Felty, Simon and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Lee. Also present were Clerk Moline and Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent Luetkenhaus. Guests were Ed Schroeder, Mary Mayfield, Jennifer Lee, Laurie VanAckeren, Andrew Jackson, and Levi Durnal.
A BUDGET WORKSHOP was called at 6:05 p.m. Accountant Ed Schroeder reviewed the 10/1/22 – 9/30/23 fiscal year budget. Discussion was held on completing a street project utilizing Debt Service funds. The workshop was adjourned at 6:47 p.m.
REPORTS: Utilities/Maintenance: Luetkenhaus reported monthly duties, increase in backwashing at the water plant, and chemical leaks at the chemical room. Discussion was held on removal of the bomb carts from the Quonset. Planning Commission: The minutes of the June 27 regular meeting were accepted. Planning and Zoning Administrator: The board accepted permits issued by Administrator Miller. Permits being: Building Permit 20-07, David Scribner to erect a fence at 1449 Girmus Drive and 20-08, David and Tasha Trost, 509 S. Vine St. to erect a wood fence. Noted was extension issued on Building Permit 21-20 Outback Fence Co. to erect an 8’ chain-link, covered fence at 1054 Sunburst Lane for Yong Construction. The project is currently being completed. Clerk: Moline reported receipt of several complaints and ARPA funding to support undating the Comprehensive Plan. Thorson reported on pole inspection and light replacement at the park ballfield.
NEW BUSINESS: Discussion was held on the One- and Six-Year Plan for Street Improvement Program previously presented at the July 12 meeting, adoption of Resolution 22-12, Recognize the official incorporation for the Village of Mead as April 23, 1877, storm sewer maintenance along Cedar Street, temporary help during the Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent’s absence, purchasing of equipment in the future, and repair of a manhole/street on Eighth St. A thank-you card will be sent to Greg Lavigne of Security Fence Co. for repairing the fence at the park ballfield. The board approved locking in a fixed price of $1.12602/therm with Constellation for year 11/22 – 10/23.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:28 p.m.

The Village Dump Hours will change effective November 1 through March 31. They will be the FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH ONLY 8am – 12pm.
Current dump hours run April 1 through October 31. Hours being Wednesday 5pm – 7pm and Saturday 8am – 12pm.
The only items allowed are tree branches, weeds, leaves, and unbagged grass clippings. An iron/metal dumpster is also located on-site. The dump is to be used by Mead residents only!
The Village of Mead Board of Trustees is planning on discussion and possible action at their September 13 board meeting.
