VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET FEBRUARY 13
The Village of Mead Board of Trustees met February 13 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office. Answering roll call were Chairman Havelka; Trustees Felty, Guyle and Wimer. Absent was Trustee Wielage. Also present was Clerk Moline. Guests were Ben Day and Jody Weible,
A Public Hearing was called at 6:03 p.m. to review the One and Six Year Street Plan for Street Improvement.. The hearing adjourned at 6:06 p.m. The board approved Resolution 18-01, One and Six Year Street Plan for Street Improvement Program.
GUESTS: Ben Day, Olsson Associates, presented an update on the water project. A Letter Agreement Amendment #3 was presented but tabled until answers were received from Engineer Reinsch. Planning Commission Chairperson Jody Wieble presented amendments to consider to the zoning regulations.
Executive Session was held from 6:43 p.m. – 6:48 p.m. for protection of public interest. Felty exited the meeting at 6:48 p.m.
REPORTS: Police – The Monthly Police Report was reviewed. Planning Commission – The minutes of the January 29 regular meeting were accepted. Library – The minutes of the January 15 Library Board meeting were accepted as well as Jennifer Lee as a member of the Library Board. Clerk – Moline reported the Dog and Cat Vaccination and License Day will be held April 7 and Mead Garage Sale Day to be held May 5. Discussion was held on occupation taxes and webpage design. 92West was approved to design the village website at a cost of $1,500.00.
Action was taken to approve second reading of Ordinance 703, amend Municipal Water Department; Minimum Rates; introduce and accept first readings of Ordinances 704, 705 and 706, Non-exclusive franchise to collect and dispose of garbage to the residents of Mead to Waste Connections, Roadrunner Transportation and S2 Recycling and Refuse; and adopted Resolution 18-02, Interlocal Cooperation Agreement for a mutual finance organization for municipalities and fire protection districts in Saunders County. A permit was approved to Mead Days Committee to close First St. from Elm St. to Vine St. during Mead Days on June 15, 16, and 17. Discussion was held on summer positions and scheduling of Mead Clean Up Day. The meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m.

VACCINATION CLINIC AND LICENSE DAY

Dr. Dobesh of Green Acre Animal Clinic, Wahoo, will be present to administer pet vaccinations and the Village Clerk will be available to issue dog and cat licenses with proof of current rabies vaccination. Cost to license your pet is $4.00 altered, $6.00 intact. All dogs and cats within the village limits are required to be licensed by MAY 1.
Vaccinations available are: DOGS – rabies, distemper, parvo and kennel cough. CATS – rabies and distemper. Blood tests for heartworm can also be completed on-site. Products available to purchase are Heartgard and Frontline.

Coffee Houris scheduled every Tuesday at 10am. Join us for coffee and conversations.
Story Time for young children is offered every Tuesday at 4pm. We read a book or two, make a craft, and receive a take home snack. Join us!
The Mead Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Monday, March 19, at 530pmin the Library.
TheLunch Bunch Book Club will meet Friday, March 16, from11am-1230pm (note new time) and hold a potluck. Author Mary Conley will be here to discuss her new book, First Cousins at the Farm.

Friday, March 2 – We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday! Check out a Dr Seuss book on March 2 or 3 and get a prize (one per person).
Saturday, March 17 – On St Patrick’s Day come and do a craft. The activity will be available from 10am-1130 am.
Sunday, March 25 – J.R.R. Tolkien Reading Day (author of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit). Read of book of Tolkien’s this month & receive a prize (one per person).
Tuesday, March 27 – Join us for Bingo for Books from 6pm-7pm. All ages are welcome.

The annual Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser was held January 20. The Friends of the Mead Library Foundation and Library staff appreciate everyone who attended. A special thank you goes out to Mead Public Schools for hosting the Spaghetti Feed and Maybelle and Karla for working with the Friends on this event.
