VILLAGE BOARD HOLDS JANUARY 14th MEETING

 

A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held on January 14 at 6:00 pm at the Village Office. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Lee, Simon, and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Felty. Also present were Clerk Moline and Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent Luetkenhaus. Guests were Julie Ogden, Mike Kuehn, Andrew Jackson, and Greg and Gale Lavinge.

The agenda, December 10 meeting minutes, Treasurer’s Report, and claims were approved.

SCHEDULED GUESTS: Street Supt. Julie Ogden presented a draft of the Final Report of Total Cost and Assessments for the First Street and Pine Street projects. Mike Kuehn presented documentation on the proposed round-about at the intersection of Highways 77 and 92. Thorson will contact the NE Department of Roads engineer to discuss an alternative route.

UNSCHEDULED GUESTS: Greg Lavigne and Andrew Jackson expressed fencing concerns at Girmus Subdivision. The board suggested they present their concerns to their Housing Authority. Thorson will discuss the concern with the Saunders County Supervisor.

REPORTS: Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent – Luetkenhaus reported completion of daily duties at the water plant, water line and meter maintenance, and dirt work at the dump.  Library – The January 7 meeting minutes were accepted. Clerk – Moline presented scheduled dates for the “Pet Vaccination/License Day” on April 19, “Garage Sale Day” on May 3, and “Clean-up Day” on June 7. Also reported was an email from Spectrum indicating they will need to bore lines rather than place on the electrical poles for installation of service and acceptance of on-call agreements with Olsson for 2025.

NEW BUSINESS: A citizen complaint was presented. Annual evaluation of the Clerk/Treasurer was held. Ordinance No. 838 was adopted, Wage increase of 6% awarded to the Clerk/Treasurer.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:07 pm.

Freewill Donations collected at the door.

Raffle tickets will be available for $5.00. Prizes include: Browning 270 X-Bolt Rifle, Browning 12 Ga. 3.5” Pump Shotgun, and 65” LG UHD AI TV.

 

Food Donations encouraged.

 

Contact a MVFD member to donate wild game ahead of time or bring a cooked dish to share.

Tuesday, February 4 – The Mead Public Library Board will have its monthly meeting at the Library at 6p. The session is open to the public.

Tuesday, February 4, 11, 18 and 25 – Join us for Coffee Time and conversation at 10a.

Monday, February 3, 10 and 24 – Participate in Adult DIY Craft Night from 6p-8p. Bring your own craft to work on and enjoy the conversation.

Tuesday, February 4 – Kids! Stop in after school at 330p to make a Kids’ Craft and enjoy some cookies. All young people are welcome.

Wednesday, February 5 –  Adults! Join us at 630p to make a cute Valentine’s Day craft.  Please rsvp by January 28. There is a non-refundable $5.00 fee but that will be returned to you the evening of the program. Seats are limited!

Wednesday, February 12 – The Adult Book Club will have their monthly meeting at 6:30p. All adults are welcome!
