BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING – JANUARY 12th 

A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held January 12 at the Mead Community  Building.  Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Felty, Lee, Simon and Wielage.  Also present were Clerk Moline and Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent Raver.  Guests were Kylie Dorner and Julie Ogden.

 

SCHEDULED GUEST:  Street Superintendent Julie Ogden updated the board on the N. Oak Street paving project.

 

Action was taken to approve Pay Certificate #6 to Neuvirth Construction for $236,600.00 for water project construction; Pay Certificate #3 to ME Collins in the amount of $32,207.50 for N. Oak Street project; void original Change Order #3 with Neuvirth Construction in the amount of $15,893.04 and approve Change Order #3 with Neuvirth Construction in the amount of $8,741.31 due to design amendment; approved closure of streets during Mead Days June 18 and 19 and Show and Shine Car Show on June 20; and Ordinance No. 759 Wage Increase of 3% to Clerk/Treasurer.

 

REPORTSPolice: The monthly police report was reviewed.  Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent:  Annual inspection of Well 92-1 completed and scheduled inspection in May of water system.  Clerk: The following events have been scheduled:  Dog and Cat Vaccination and License Day – March 27, Garage Sale Day – May 1, and Mead Clean-up Day – June 12.

 

Discussion was held on zoning within the Neighborhood Business District and resident’s request to consider construction of a sidewalk from N. Third Circle to Mead Elementary School.

 

The meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.

MEAD PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS – February 2021

Our shelves are open for browsing. Please bring your mask.

 

As we continue to follow state and CDC guidelines for small indoor gatherings, we want to welcome you back into the library for two of our in-person programs: Coffee Hour and Storytime.

For Coffee Hour, we ask that you wear a mask when you are not sipping your coffee/tea, and the librarian will wear gloves as they pour the beverage from the carafe into your cup.

For Storytime, we continue to ask to have your child wear a mask just as they would at school. We will read just one book to keep our time together brief.

Coffee Hour: Every Tuesday at 10:00am

Storytime: Every Tuesday beginning at 4:00pm in the Library

Craft Kits To-Go: New kits will now be available following our storytime on Tuesday afternoons. Pickup anytime during the week.

Food for Fines: February (all month long) Our program to assist others in the community while also going toward your library fine has returned. Stop by the library for more information.

NOTICE:  Beginning in January of 2021, the regular meeting of the Mead Public Library Board of Trustees was changed to the first Tuesday of every month at 5:30 pm.

 

HOURS:

 

Tuesday 10a – 5pm                               Wednesday 4p – 7p                               Thursday 12p – 6p
Friday 9a – 2p                                     Saturday 9a – 1p

 

Residents owning dogs and cats residing within the village limits are required to license their pet(s) by MAY 1.  Licenses may be obtained at the village office during regular business hours or by mailing your pets current rabies shot record and payment to Box 46, Mead. You may also deliver to the drop box located by the village front door and I will return the record you left, receipt  and tag to you via mail or doorside delivery.  Cost to license your pet is $4.00 altered / $6.00 intact animal.

DUE TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC, MEETINGS MAY BE HELD AT THE MEAD COMMUNITY BUILDING, 220 E. FOURTH STREET, IN ORDER TO MEET GUIDELINES.  PLEASE CHECK POSTINGS AT THE BANK OF MEAD, POST OFFICE OR VILLAGE OFFICE FOR THE LOCATION.

The water project is progressing well.  Work continues on the water treatment facility.  The project is expected to be completed during the summer of 2021.  Thank you all for your patience with completing a new water system for the Village of Mead.
