VILLAGE OF MEAD BOARD OF TRUSTEES

HOLD JULY 8 MEETING

 

The Village of Mead Board of Trustees held a regular meeting on July 8, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Village Office. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Felty, Lee, and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Simon. Guests were Jack Post and Carson Brodersen.

Action was taken to approve the minutes of the June 10 Regular Meeting, Treasurer’s Report, and claims.

SCHEDULED GUEST: Jack Post, JEO, presented the One– and Six-Year Street Plan for review.

REPORTS: Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent – Luetkenhaus presented a written report of tasks completed throughout the month. Police – A written report was provided by Chief Hannan. Building/Zoning Administrator – Permit 25-04, Isaac Christensen, 1040 Co Rd M, to construct a pole barn was accepted. Clerk – Moline reported contact from former building inspectors who had helped with a large project and willing to help again.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: No contact has been received from NMC regarding a maintenance contract and Burke District regarding cancellation of the agreement for a deck on the village right-of-way.

NEW BUSINESS: Action was taken to renew membership in SENDD, held annual review of Conditional Use Permits, and annual review of the Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent. The library employees are evaluated by the Library Board and wages are set by them. The board adopted Ordinance No. 846, set wage of Utilities Maintenance Superintendent, Library Director, Assistant Library Director, and Library Aide. Discussion and action approved for interviewing and hiring of Clerk/Treasurer.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.

Tuesday, August 5 – The Mead Public Library Board will have its monthly meeting at the Library at 6p. The session is open to the public.

 

Events for August:

Tuesday August 5 – Join us for Coffee Time at 10a and then the following Tuesdays August 12, 19, and 26, coffee time moves to 9a-11a.  Stop in anytime!

Friday, August 1 Participate in a Diamond Art Paw Print Key Chain Workshop at 9:30a. Please RSVP as seats are limited. For ages 8 and older.

Wednesday, August 13 The Adult Book Club will have its monthly meeting at 630p. All adults are welcome.

A special meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held July 14, 2025 at 6:00 pm at the Village Office. Present were Chairman Thorson, Trustees Felty, Lee, and Wielage. Absent was Trustee Simon. Also present was Clerk Moline. Guests were the applicants for the Clerk/Treasurer position.

The board entered executive session at 6:01 pm to interview candidates for the Clerk/Treasurer position. The board reconvened in regular session at 7:26 pm.

Action was taken to hire Tawney Cooper as Clerk/Treasurer, adopted Ord. 847, set wage at $26.00 hour for Clerk/Treasurer, and adopted Resolution 25-11, Signatory for village accounts.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.

 

Back to School!

Mead Public School students return to the classroom on August 14. Please be extra careful of student’s walking and riding their bicycles to  and from school.

 

The speed limit for the residential district is 25 mph and the business district is 20 mph. Remember to stop at all stop signs.
