BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING MINUTES

 

A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held July 13 at 6:00pm at the Mead Community Building.  Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Felty, Lee, Simon and Wielage.  Also present were Clerk Moline and Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent Raver.  Guest was Levi Durnal.

 

The following action was approved:  Pay Certificate #12 to Neuvirth Construction in the amount of $40,607.75 for work at the Water Treatment Plant, Pay Certificate #5 to Kurita America in the amount of $27,939.70 for start-up at the Water Treatment Plant, $50.00 to NE Rural Water for help locating shut-off’s, hire John Haag as Back-up Water Operator, and adopt Ordinance No. 774, Amend wages of the Police Chief/ Zoning Administrator/Nuisance Abatement Officer, Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent, Library Aide and Back-up Water/Sewer Operator.

 

REPORTSPolice – Action was taken to move forward with abatement of properties presented in Resolutions 20-10 and 21-05 due to not meeting deadline, and adoption of Resolution 21-07, Notification of Nuisance on Lots  7, 9 and 11 Blk 25 Original Town Mead and Lots 1, 3 and 5 Blk 25 Original Town Mead.  Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent – Raver reported requirement for a back-low device at a business, issues at the Water Treatment Plant, water test results, need to purchase a new tractor, and order agri-lime for the ballfields.  Planning Commission – The minutes of the June 28 Regular Meeting and Public Hearing were accepted.  Library – The minutes of the July 6 Library Board Meeting and resignation of Jessica Colabella were accepted and approval was granted to hire Laurie VanAckeren as Library Director.  Clerk – Moline reported NERWA helped locate shut-offs, umpires’ payment, delinquent water/sewer account, meters requiring maintenance, repair of resident’s sprinkler system, inquiry from Three Rivers to possibly host an immunization clinic, and vacation.

 

Discussion was held on Municipal Allocation of Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds, annual review of Conditional Use Permits, fireworks stand concern, and AltEn’s land valuations.

 

The meeting was adjourned 7:24 p.m.

 

Mead Public Schools begin August 11.  Please be aware of the youngsters riding their bicycles and walking.  STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS, enter the intersections with care, and observe the speed limit.  The speed limits are 25 mph residential district / 20 mph business district.

WATER / SEWER PAYMENT S ~

     To pay your water / sewer bill you may deliver your payment to the village office, place in the drop box by the front door of the office, deliver to the Bank of Mead, or mail to Box 46, Mead, NE  68041-0046.  If you wish to set up automatic payments you must complete an application at the village office.  Your payment will be automatically deducted from your checking / savings account with the financial institution of your choice on the 15th of the month.  You also have the option to pay in person or by telephone using your credit / debit card.  These is a small processing fee charged to you for using the card.

Bills are due the 15th of every month.  You have until 9:00 am the following day to have your payment made.  After 9:00 a.m. you will be charged a $10.00 late fee.  You will then have ten working days to pay your bill or your bill is considered delinquent and you will be assessed $50.00 for a reconnection / administration fee.  You will be charged $65.00 if you request your water reinstated after hours, weekends, or holidays.

Wednesday 5pm – 7pm and Saturday 8am -12pm

 

November 1 through March 31

First Saturday of the month ONLY 8am -12pm

 

Only items allowed:  Tree branches, weeds, leaves, unbagged grass clippings.  An iron/metal dumpster is located on-site.

Thank you, Marilyn Jensen for maintaining the median at the north entrance into Mead. 

Thank you to Rick Miller for his service on the Mead Planning Commission for many years and holding the position of Chairman for several years.

Thank you, Jessica Colabella for serving as the Library Director for the past several months.

The Water Treatment Plant is up and running as well as two new wells and a new water tower.  Thank you to everyone for your patience during construction of this project.
