VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEET JULY 11
A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held July 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Village Office. Present were Chairman Havelka and Trustees Felty, Wielage and Wimer. Absent was Trustee Guyle. Also present were Clerk Moline, Utility/Maintenance Supt. Raver and Police Chief Carlson. Guests were Patty Knott, Andrea Pummel, Timothy Price and Tracy Sterba.
A Public Hearing was called at 6:12 p.m. to address a request from the Planning Commission to amend Chapter 11, Zoning Regulations. Ordinance No. 698 to amend Chapter 11, Zoning Regulations was approved. The board returned to regular session at 6:17 p.m.
UNSCHEDULED GUESTS: Patty Knott and Timothy Price sought a SDLL to serve alcohol for a welding reception at the Mead Fire Hall on September 16. Tracy Sterba requested additional time on Nuisance Abatement Resolution 17-06 to clean her property.
REPORTS: POLICE – The Monthly Police Report was presented. Action was taken to approve an extension until August 7 of Resolution 17-06 to Dan and Tracy Sterba to clean their property. UTILITY/MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT – Raver reported pumps are on backorder for repairs at N. Third Circle, discussed future purchase of a skidloader, lagoon concerns, future street maintenance, and planned vacation. PLANNING COMMISSION – The minutes of the June 26 Regular Meeting and Public Hearing and permits issued were accepted. Permits being: 17-13 Michael Stoltenberg – demolish garage; 17-14 Michael Stoltenberg – construct garage; and 17-15 Steve and Mary Mayfield – replace chain-link fence. LIBRARY– The minutes of the June 21 Library Board Meeting were accepted. The Library Board submitted proposed wage increases for the library staff. CLERK– Moline reported issuance of 74 pet licenses and 1 off-road permit, receipt of $100 grant from Saunders Co Visitors Promotion and Improvement Committee in support of the 2017 Easter Egg Hunt, reported Mead Days Committee plan to purchase 3 trees for the park, and meter maintenance requirements. She reported work completed on the budget yesterday by our accountant, Ed Schroeder.
NEW BUSINESS: Action was taken to approve a permit to Colby Properties to cut the concrete at 120 N. Second St. for a driveway; approved first reading of Ordinance No. 699, Water Rates; and approved a SDLL to Spirits by Beckman to serve alcohol at a wedding reception at the Mead Fire Hall on September 16.
EXECUTIVE SESSION was entered at 6:58 p.m. to prevent needless injury to a person’s reputation for annual personnel evaluations. The board reconvened to regular session at 7:11 p.m.
Ordinance No. 697, Set wages for the Utility/Maintenance Superintendent, Police Chief/ Zoning Administrator and Nuisance Enforcement Officer, Library Director, Assistant Library Director and Library Aide was approved.
The meeting adjourned at 7:12 p.m.

Monthly Schedule
Coffee Houris scheduled every Tuesday at 10am.
Story Time for young children is offered every Tuesday at 4pm.
The Mead Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, August 16, at 530pmin the library.
Special Events
Saturday, August 5 – Enjoy a Saturday Morning Movie (Rated PG). Showtime is 10am.
Friday, August 11 – Come to the End of Summer Reading Program Party. Join us anytime between11am and 1pm to celebrate summer reading accomplishments and participate in drawings for prizes. Root beer floats will be served and Parrot Rescue will be here from 12noon to 1pm, so come party with the parrots.
Friday, August 18– The Library Lunch Bunch Book Club is scheduled from 1130am to1230pm.
Saturday, August 19 – Join us from 10am to 11am for a Back to School Scavenger Hunt. All ages are welcome to participate.
Wednesday, August 30 – Participate in our LEGO My Library Event from 430pm to 630pm. Children and adults of all ages are encouraged to come and play.
Homebound Library Delivery Service
If you know a community member who is temporarily or permanently housebound, Mead Public Library can assist by delivering books. There is no charge for this service. To make arrangements for homebound delivery, call Mead Public Library at 402.624.6605 or email meadLibrary@outlook.com.
