Village of Mead Planning Commission meeting of February 27, 2017

The Village of Mead Planning Commission met Monday, February 27th, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.  Present were Jody Weible, Connie Schliffke, Wyatt Swartz, Levi Durnal, Rick Miller and Melissa Konecky.  Jim Halbmeier and Matt Bratsberg were absent.  Tyler Bukaske was a guest.  We adopted the agenda.  Wyatt motioned, and Levi seconded, that the minutes from the previous meeting of January 23rd, 2017, be approved.  All agreed.

Tyler asked about the northeast corner of 6th and Cedar and whether a house would actually fit into the space, meeting setbacks.  After a brief discussion, it was decided that the pins need to be located.

John and Laura Benal submitted both a demolition and a building permit application for their front deck.  Because the footage was not included on the permits nor any setbacks, Rick motioned, and Wyatt seconded that we deny both permit applications.  All agreed.

Colby Properties, LLC submitted a building permit application for a single family home at 120 North 2nd Street.  Rick motioned, and Levi seconded, that we approve the permit.  All agreed.

At 8:00 p.m. we adjourned the Planning Commission meeting and called the public hearing to order.  The lot size for R1 should be reduced from 10,000 to 8,000 square feet, per the Village Boards recommendation.

We reconvened the regular meeting.

We discussed Steve Black’s request to split his property into six lots.  He would like to have access from the highway.  Jody spoke to the NDOR and found that there are a lot of hoops to jump through for this, and Steve has not contacted them yet.

At 8:09 p.m., Connie motioned, and Levi Seconded, that we adjourn the meeting.  All agreed.
