Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting

Monday, July 16, 2018 @ 530pm

Mead Public Library reaccredition date (2019)

Mead Library Board of Trustees recertification date (8/2020), Needing 20 CEU’s

 

  1. President Mayfield called the meeting to order at 531pm
  2. Members present: Viki Miller (2020), Paulette Mayfield (2020), Jennifer Lee (2022) and Layla Giorgakopoulos (2022). Also present were: Director Laurie Van Ackeren and Assistant Director Lori Moseman. Guests were Jennie Grasiani and Kacee Wieble.
  3. The posting of the Open Meetings Law was noted
  4. Motion made by President Mayfield to approve minutes, bills, financial and monthly report for June 2018. Seconded by Giorgakopoulos.
  5. Vote: Mayfield-Yes, Miller-Yes, Giorgakopoulos-Yes, Lee-Yes; motion carried 4-0
  6. President Mayfield brought to our attention an article about a Nationwide Garden and suggested we present it to the Friends of the Library as a project consideration. Moseman will scan and email to all members of the library board.
  7. Staff Reports: Director Van Ackeren advised we are currently 64.4% through our yearly budget. A Transportation line was recently added on the P & L report (by Village Clerk Moline) to show what was spent in mileage incurred by Van Ackeren when attending seminars, trainings and workshops.
  8. Board Member Reports: Librarian Mary Mayfield is currently creating an Excel graph to show attendance records for all functions sponsored by the library to see how they are comparing over the last few years.
  9. Business Items: The Library board reviewed the budget proposal for 2018/2019 which will be presented to the Mead Village Board on August 14, 2018 at 6pm. All members are encouraged to attend to show support for the library. Van Ackeren went before the Village Board on July 20, 2018 to discuss a potential change to the current by-laws: The library board will consist of five (5) members, 4 residing within Village City Limits and 1 from within the Village zip code (68041)
  10. President Mayfield announced she will be resigning as President as of August 1, 2018.   Motion made by Mayfield to approve Viki Miller as Board President. Seconded by Lee.  Vote: Mayfield-Yes, Miller-Yes, Giorgakopoulos-Yes, Lee-Yes; motion carried 4-0.
  11. Motion by Mayfield, Second by Lee, to adjourn at 615pm
  12. Vote: Mayfield-Yes, Miller-Yes, Giorgakopoulos-Yes, Lee-Yes; motion carried 4-0
