Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, February 6, 2024

• Meeting was called to order by Jenn Lee at 6:17pm.  Open Meetings Act poster was pointed out on the west wall of the back room.

• Roll Call:
  • Members Present: Sara Else (2027), Cara Simon (2027), Jenn Lee (2026), Kylee Hickman (2024), Amanda Schaal (2028)
  • Members Absent: None
  • Library Employees Present: Director-Laurie VanAckeren
  • Library Employee Absent: Lori Moseman, Roberta Kisling

• Guests or Public Items to discuss- None

• Minutes, Bills, Financials, and Monthly Reports for January
  • January minutes reviewed.
  • January Bills/Financial transactions reviewed.
    • Lee moved to approve January Minutes, Bills, Financials, and Monthly reports, second by Hickman. Motion carried. Unanimous approval. January reports approved.

• New Business/Director’s Report
  • January stats were reviewed. Slower foot traffic for all events. Board believes this to be a result of extreme cold weather and the library being closed 5 snow days.
  • Upcoming February/March events to note:
    • Kids Valentine Craft- Saturday, February 10th
    • Mardi Gras Party- Tuesday, February 13^th
    • Game Night (ages 6-99)- Wednesday, February 28th
    • TWO Adult Book Clubs each month
    • Patrick’s Day Party- Tuesday, March 12^th
    • Adult Spring Diamond Art Keychain Workshop- Monday, March 18th
  • The library received a $500 grant from the Nebraska Library Commission to be used for our Youth Patrons. Laurie has proposed the idea of a Zombie Prom for 4^th-10^th grade students that will include books, games, snacks, pinata, costume contest, button maker station, photo booth, and zombie makeup station. No date has been determined but thinking closer to end of April/May.
  • Laurie will present the Annual Statistical Report to the Village Board at their regularly scheduled meeting next Tuesday, February 13.
  • Reviewed the Public Relations and Marketing Policy and Volunteers Policy. No proposed changes.
    • Motion to approve policies by Lee, Second by Schaal. Motion carried. Unanimous approval. Review of policies approved.
