Board of Trustees Minutes of Meeting
Tuesday, April 6th, 2021
5:30 pm
President Lee called the meeting to order at 5:31pm with a mention of the “Open Meetings Act” poster on the west wall.
Roll call was taken of members present: Lee present, Mayfield present, Giorgakopoulos present, Hickman present and Library Director Dorner also present. Board member Grasiani was absent.
No Guests to Recognize or Public Items to Discuss.
Business items: Further discussion of painting of murals of library book jacket covers on the ceiling tiles was tabled to a later date.
Staff Reports:
Director’s Report: Daily Record for March: 89 adults 46 juvenile total: 135 patrons
Storytime: 7 Craft Kits: 38 Coffee Hour Program attendance: 7 In-Library Circulation: 236
Overdrive Circulation: 92 Total: 328 Member Amount Saved: $1,758.45 (in-library)
$2,260 (OverDrive) Total: $4,018.45 Revenue: $10.35
Review of Business Items:
- Review of Budget spending in March
- Requested quote from Steve in Ceresco to install new door
- Began talking with Jim Halbmeier @ Mead Signs for quote on bookbags made for Summer Reading Program.
- Dalene will contact us closer to Mead Days with time spots to sign up and help with
Planned kid’s activities from 1-5pm. Board member Mayfield will be on vacation during Mead Days.
1. Decided to wait and see if hvac unit will function appropriately for summer before beginning to replace any of the light fixtures.
Review of profit and loss:
- We currently have a surplus in the wages budget of a little over $500 due to snow day closures and time off. This allows for funding for extra hours for the Summer Reading.
Program covering necessary planning time and double-staffing throughout the kick-off Week. A request for additional funding will be made to the Friends of the Library to cover any necessary expenses.
Director Dorner will be beginning a second Storytime Hour to divide the age groups into Preschoolers on Fridays at 10:00am and K-4th Graders on Tuesdays at 4:00pm. To concentrate better on the different age group attention spans.
Board Member Reports: We welcome new board member Kylee Hickman who was approved by the Village at last month’s meeting. Thank you for joining our little group and bringing a fresh perspective to our community efforts toward growing our local library!
Motion was made by Board Member Mayfield to approve the Minutes, Bills and Financials, and Monthly Reports for March 2021. Seconded by Board Member Lee. Giorgakopoulos yes, Lee yes, Mayfield yes, Hickman yes. Motion carried.
Motion was made by Board Member Giorgakopoulos to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Board Member Hickman. Meeting adjourned at 5:56pm.
Next Regularly Scheduled Meeting will be May 4th, 2021 at 5:30 pm at Mead Public Library.
