Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024

• Meeting was called to order by Jenn Lee at 6:02pm.  Open Meetings Act poster was pointed out on the west wall of the back room.

• Roll Call:
  • Members Present: Sara Else (2027), Jenn Lee (2026), Kylee Hickman (2024), Amanda Schaal (2028)
  • Members Absent: Cara Simon (2027)
  • Library Employees Present: Director-Laurie VanAckeren
  • Library Employee Absent: Lori Moseman, Roberta Kisling

• Guests or Public Items to discuss: None

• Minutes, Bills, Financials, and Monthly Reports for March
  • March minutes reviewed.
  • March Bills/Financial transactions reviewed.
    • Lee moved to approve March Minutes, Bills, Financials, and Monthly reports, second by Else. Motion carried. Unanimous approval. March reports approved.

• New Business/Director’s Report
  • March stats were reviewed. Slight increase in Library Circulation from February. Adult programs continue to do well!
  • Upcoming Spring events to note:
    • TWO Adult Book Clubs each month
    • Charcuterie in a Cup Workshop- Monday, April 8^th, 6:30pm
    • Kids Movie Time- Saturday, April 13^th, 10:00am
    • Kids Earth Day Craft- Monday, April 22^nd, 4:00pm
    • Zombie Prom (Grades 4-10)- Friday, May 3^rd, 6:00pm
    • Book Sale and Pie Sale (During community wide garage sale)- Saturday, May 4^th, 9am-2pm
    • Mother’s Day Craft- Thursday, May 9^th, 3:30pm
    • NEW HOURS starting May 28:
      • Monday 4p-8p, Tuesday 9a-2p, Wednesday 3p-8p, Thursday 12p-4p, Friday 2p-5p, Saturday 9a-12p

• Board Member Reports
  • The Village Board accepted and approved The Library Board’s proposal to replace the furnace and AC units.
  • Library Operating Policies were reviewed. Changes will be approved at next meeting.
  • Discussed upcoming Zombie Prom. Sara, Jenn, Amanda, and Kylee all volunteered to help with the event.
  • Per a patron’s request, discussion on purchasing a subscription to the NebraskaLife magazine. Will vote at next meeting.
