VILLAGE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MET JULY 9TH
A regular meeting of the Village of Mead Board of Trustees was held July 9 at 6:00 pm. at the Village Office. Answering roll call were Chairman Thorson; Trustees Lee, Simon, and Wielage. Absent was Felty. Also present was Clerk Moline. Guest was Julie Ogden.
Approved were the June 11 Regular Meeting Minutes, Treasurer’s Report, SENDD membership, claims, and Pay Application #1 to ME Collins in the amount of $146,459.72 for street construction.
Julie Ogden, JEO and Village Street Superintendent, reviewed the street construction project.
Approved was Change Order #1 with JEO for the storm sewer layout.
REPORTS: Park – Thorson presented a list of potential projects for the park that the committee had discussed. Utilities/Maintenance – A written report from Luetkenhaus stating tasks completed within the last month was presented by Thorson. Library – The July 2 Library Board minutes were accepted. Planning Commission – The resignation of James P. Hannan was approved. Wyatt Swartz was reappointed and Austin Miller was appointed to the Planning Commission. Clerk – Moline reported on the hazard Mitigation Plan and donation of $529.00 from the Mead Days Committee for Mead’s Working Cat Project.
NEW BUSINESS: Interest rates for a loan from three banks were presented. Adopted was Resolution 24-07; Loan for $10,790.07 with the Bank of Mead for tree removal and a sprinkler system at the park. Employee reviews took place. Ordinance No. 836; Set wage for Utilities/ Maintenance Superintendent, Library Director, Assistant Librarians, Library Aide, and Events Police was adopted.
DISCUSSION ITEMS: Items discussed were Occupation Tax on Keno, Cat Project report, and annual review of Conditional Use Permits.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:41 pm.

Tuesday, July 30 – The Mead Public Library Board will have its monthly meeting at the library at 6p. The session is open to the public.
Events for August:
Mondays, August 5, 12 & 19 – Stop in anytime between 6p & 8p for an Adult Do-It-Yourself Craft Night. Bring whatever craft you like and work on it while hanging out with friends!
Tuesdays in August – Join us for Coffee Time and conversation at 10a.
Saturday, August 3 – Meet our newest librarian, Rachelle, between 9a & 12n. She’ll be handing out chocolate chip cookies in honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day on August 4.
Wednesday, August 14 – Join the Mead Adult Book Club at 630p. Snacks will be served. Please bring your own drink.
Monday, August 26– Join the group that meets for the Library’s Adult Alma Book Club Potluck from 630p-8p. Please bring a covered dish to share.

NEW DUMP HOURS
The dump will be opened Monday – Friday by the Utilities/Maintenance Superintendent while on duty. It will also be open on Wednesday evening until 7:00 pm and Saturday from 8:00 am – noon.
Items permitted: tree branches, weeds, leaves, and grass clippings (all unbagged). A metal/iron container is on site for disposal for these types of items.
The dump will not be open during heavy rainfall or a snowstorm.

Thank you to the many individuals involved in helping to solve our free roaming cat issues. Several cats have been caught, vaccinated against rabies, neutered or spayed, and then returned to the community or adopted. They will have a tipped ear to show they have been altered. This is an ongoing project. Donations are accepted at the Mead Village Office or the Bank of Mead.
BACK TO SCHOOL
Mead Public School begins August 15th. Please stop at ALL stop signs and watch for children walking or riding bicycles to and from school. The speed limit for the residential district is 25 mph and the business district is 20 mph.
